Look out EA, your turf is being invaded.

It’s already the dominant video game producer in the new gaming hotbed of Quebec, but today Ubisoft announced it has expanded its empire to the West Coast with the acquisition of B.C. game developer Action Pants Inc.

Although just three years old, the studio has been ranked as one of the province's top 50 companies the last two years in a row, and has 110 employees in the Yaletown area of Vancouver.

Ubisoft has not officially announced what the studio's first game will be, except that it is a new intellectual property exclusively for the Nintendo Wii that will "expand upon Ubisoft’s recent success in the sports genre with the Shaun White Snowboarding franchise," according to a statement.

Ubisoft's executive director of worldwide production studios at Ubisoft Christine Burgess-Quemard said of the deal, "We have been looking closely at Vancouver for some time, as we wished to set up a presence in what is one of the industry’s biggest talent pools. The creative talent at Action Pants made the decision an easy one, and we are delighted to both establish ourselves in the region as well as welcome a fantastic group of experienced developers who can start exchanging with our other teams worldwide."
