A year of hard work will be front and centre at the Centre for Arts and Technology student film festival.

“We’ll be able to see the best of what’s been produced over the last year from the centre, it includes film and animation,” explains Andrew Buckley, CATO marketing director. “It’s a great way to showcase the films to the general public.”

Amanda Adams, a recent graduate of CATO’s three-dimensional animation program, will be featuring her 90-second piece, Mission Improbable.

“It was about six months from pre-production to final,” she says, of her animation following a thief and the challenges he faces trying to make a getaway with his loot. “I’m really excited about it.”

The student film festival, now in its seventh year, features talented graduates from the school–about 70 per cent from the Okanagan Valley.

“It’s great for community members to see what’s being produced here from local artists,” says Buckley. “We have grads who work all over the place, it’s great to see where these people started out.”

The festival isn’t just about screening movies either. There will also be a student film shoot and a VIP reception to allow students to network.

The festival will be held on Wednesday at the Rotary Centre for the Art’s Mary Irwin Theatre.
