Whether you call it Filmmaking, Motion Pictures, Television, Broadcasting, Documentary or Digital Film, we are talking about similar things. The ability to immerse someone in a story, to bring them through a range of emotions while captivating them in a dynamic journey through another reality.
In past years the cost of film had been a significant barrier to most would-be film makers but the advent of affordable High Definition Camcorders and Computer Based Digital Editing has opened the flood gates. The tools and the opportunity are finally in the hands of the creators, the story tellers and here at the Centre for Arts and Technology Digital Film School we use the latest and greatest HD Camcorders.
Anyone can learn how to light, to shoot, and edit. But it takes creative and managerial talent to direct and produce. The chance to develop ideas through experience and experimentation has never been greater. This is the art of filmmaking. This is the opportunity you will receive through our Digital Film School's video production training.
Students in the Centre for Arts and Technologys’ filmmaking program will be immersed in a real movie studio setting. At this digital film school they will gain film production techniques, study procedures of modern film and video production training, which will include the equipment, crew positions and protocols necessary to work as entry-level crew members on film, video or TV location shoots.
Digital Film students will then be prepared for work as a non-linear digital editor and for the pursuit of creative or entrepreneurial vision as an independent filmmaker, commercial producer or documentary filmmaker. At our Digital Film School, Available in Kelowna British Columbia, Halifax Nova Scotia, and Fredericton New Brunswick, you will learn and work extensively with compositing and visual effects techniques by utilizing leading industry software technology.
During the program we develop the complete person, not just the filmmaker or artist, so you will explore real-world projects, time management, achieving milestones, and working to deadlines. These skills combined with the highly specialized technical and artistic training you will receive at this leading digital film school will allow you to complete a professional portfolio and demo reel targeting your goals. You will gain real-world experience by working on various projects that cover the entire production process, acting as a crew member on a number of shoots, in studio and on location.
Upon graduation from the Centre's Film School you will demonstrate traits shared by all independent filmmakers: personal drive, a passion for filmmaking, and a strong work ethic. As you may have guessed this isn’t your average Digital Film School program!
