Are you a skilled Filmmaker or Cinematographer? Do you want the chance to pass on your skills to a new generation of artists? The Centre for Arts and Technology is now hiring for the position of Advanced Digital Cinematography Instructor.

Objective/Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of this position is to assist the Department Head in ensuring that the school delivers consistent quality education in the Digital Film program and ensure that student experience is positive throughout the duration of his/her program. The objective is to improve the quality of instruction, keep the program current and relevant to industry, and ensure the best possible career outcomes for grads. This is a teaching and mentoring position.

Skill Requirements – Specific & General:

  • Understanding of High Definition and Standard Definition Theory
  • Digital Camera skills and P2 workflow.
  • Understanding of  traditional filmmaking, planning and execution
  • Understanding of advanced lighting and camera techniques.
  • Skills with internal camera settings and waveform software such as Adobe On Location
  • An understanding of how the industry works, industry networking skills, and most importantly a passion for Teaching.

The position requires an excellent communicator, team player, negotiator, and leader.
The course runs 3 hours a week for an 11 week consecutive period.  The position involves delivery of the course to 2 separate groups.  Thus 66 hours would be required.

Course Runs: Week of July 5 to Week of September 6. This position is in Kelowna, BC., however delivery could be performed through High Definition Video Conferencing from Vancouver, Fredericton, or Halifax.

Qualifications:

Experience in a fast-paced technologically-driven environment. The ideal candidate has relevant certification/degree and industry experience. This position will also require regular upgrades to ensure that their skills remain current and are expanded into other areas as necessary.
