Nestled alongside the scenic St. John River, Fredericton is Atlantic Canada's Riverfront Capital, a city that combines both the friendly and warm feel of a small town with the vibrant and diverse tastes of a big city.

Fredericton offers residents and visitors alike unique cultural experiences with endless opportunities to enjoy entertainment and award winning festivals. Throughout the year, Fredericton offers up live music in its many local pubs and restaurants. The Playhouse is home to many high-quality performing arts performances, and the Beaverbrook Gallery proudly showcases some of the world's best exhibits.

Virtually every month Fredericton boasts a major festival. Highlights include the annual Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, which attracts over 350 acts from around the globe. The SilverWave film festival is New Brunswick's largest film festival and Fredericton is the proud host of this increasingly popular event. 2008 promises to be a very exciting year as Fredericton has been chosen to host The East Coast Music Awards.

The energy and attitude of this city makes it among Canada's top upcoming culturally diverse cities to live in. In 2007, Fredericton was also named one of North America's Top 10 Cities of the Future in a competition run by the Financial Times of London.

Thanks to the ongoing preservation of parkland in Fredericton, nature-lovers can enjoy a myriad of outdoor activities within city-limits. Fredericton is nestled against the banks of the majestic St. John River and offers a well-maintained network of hiking, biking and walking trails.

Likewise, indoor and outdoor markets, shopping, concerts, festivals, theatres, galleries and museums foster an active cultural community. For the more adventurous, over 40 provincial parks and recreation areas allow for camping, hunting and boating throughout the province.
