Centre for Arts and Technology

We are preparing you as an animal health assistant and not as an actual veterinarian. To prepare you as a medically trained animal health technologist requires many additional years of training.

To mention a few, administering medication, preparing prescriptions, client communications, dental and surgery assistance, blood work, taking x-rays, diet and food recommendations, clinical and office procedures.

You will be primarily trained to work in a veterinary or animal hospital but could also work at pet store, boarding kennel, or a not-for-profit animal society like the SPCA.

Neither of these are a requirement to enter the program, but we recommend having received your grade 12 biology or an equivalent as the program does deal a fair bit with the anatomy and physiology of animals.
