Do I have to know how to draw? Are there any other artistic skills I should have to make me more successful in the program?

No, you do not have to draw well to succeed in the program, however we do encourage our students to sketch ideas frequently and to try other mediums.

I want to learn how to design websites—is this the right program for me to take?

Absolutley! The program starts off using Dreamweaver to create simple static websites but then expands into more complex websites. Some of the languages covered in this program include, but are not limited to: xhtml, css, php, mysql, and action script allowing you to create complex database-driven websites.

I only want to work in print media and don’t want to design websites. Can I specialize and only take the courses I want?

This 18-month program is intended to give students a strong skill set in both graphic design and web design/development. Full-time students need to take both print and web courses to graduate.

Am I going to learn how to build a website? Do I need any programming experience or skills?

Yes, you will be creating a few websites throughout the program. You do not need to have programming experience just a desire to learn. We will start you from the beginning.

Will I have a portfolio of work to show prospective employers once I finish the program?

Yes, you take a portfolio production workshop in your last quarter of the program to develop a printed portfolio and an online portfolio. The projects done throughout your program are all pieces that can be put in your portfolio.
