Centre for Arts and Technology

The school constantly monitors industry standard software changes and consults with companies within the respective industries to ensure that we are always using industry standard software for all programs. Software is upgraded every 3 months to ensure that students receive the most updated learning experience possible. For more information on the software we are currently using for any of our programs, please contact a Program Advisor.

Instructors at the Centre are chosen based on a dynamic combination of their industry experience, education, and strong teaching ability. It’s important to our school that students get relevant instruction from professionals who have worked in their respective industries for several years.

Technical equipment for many of our programs is stored on campus and can be signed out by students once they have been taught how to use a specific piece of equipment. Students must have valid student ID with them in order to sign out any piece of equipment. As with any post-secondary institution, there will be occasions when equipment will not be provided and students will have to incur the additional costs.

The school year is split into four quarters of thirteen weeks each. The thirteenth week of every quarter is a week-long break at which time the campus will be closed to students. A typical school week consists of 20-24 hours of class time, most of which are scheduled between Monday and Friday (although there are exceptions). The homework load varies depending on the program and will be between 10 – 40 hours per week. Schedules are usually available the week before classes start. To find out more about your schedule, please contact the Academic Coordinator.

We have an in-house Financial Services Coordinator who will be happy to help you figure out the dollar signs and the best way to deal with them. Financial options include: payment plans, student loans, scholarships and bursaries, career retraining programs and government initiatives. If you require assistance with funding options, filling out your student loan application, or have any other questions regarding finances, please call our Financial Services Coordinator, to book an appointment.

Upon graduation students can register for the Graduate Access Program (GAP) with a $500 deposit (refunded upon completion). GAP allows graduates to use the facilities and equipment for 10 weeks immediately following graduation to work on strengthening their portfolio and to help them in their job search.

The Centre offers career services that will assist in the job search process and job placement throughout the school year and will advise students with regards to career choices and employment requirements for various industries. The Centre also offers a Professional Development Program (PDP) as an integral part of its training. The goal of the PDP program is to prepare students for the labor market and the program includes resume and cover letter writing, mock interviews, public speaking skills, and job search skills.

Our graduates are employed in diverse settings throughout Canada and worldwide, working everywhere from EA Games in Vancouver to Studio Ghibli in Japan to Disney’s Club Penguin to various radio stations and graphic design companies. Many do freelance work, some of whom have gone on to start very successful companies, such as Critical Mass, a web design company based out of Calgary and rapidly expanding. The type of employment varies based on a graduates program. Please contact a Program Advisor for more information.

Fees for some of the books and supplies are included in the total cost of your program. As with any post-secondary program, students will be expected to incur additional costs associated with their program, including, but not limited to pens, paper, CD-R’s, supplementary books, and presentation materials.

Your seat is not secure until the seat deposit has been paid, and would be bumped when all the other seats have been taken.

If you need any clarification about any of the information contained in your contract, please contact the Financial Services Coordinator.

The Centre allows course challenges in the event that the student has had prior learning that the student believes is equivalent to the content of one of the Centre's courses. In most cases transcripts will be required in order to challenge a course. There is also a $75.00 fee associated with course challenges. For more information please contact either the Financial Services Coordinator, or the Director of Education.
