Do I have to know how to sew before I take this program?

No, we will teach you everything you need to know. Introduction to sewing is taught in Apparel Construction 100.

 

Will I take any computer classes or work with any computer programs?

Yes – ICG, IPUB, BT100 in the foundation quarter. FDM utilizes industry computer aided design (CAD) technology for technical applications and Adobe suite for illustration.
 

What types of jobs will this program prepare me for?

On completion of the FDM program, you will be fully prepared for any entry level position in the Fashion Industry, or to pursue your own creative path such as, designing and marketing your own line of clothing or owning your own boutique, to name just a few of the exciting opportunities open to you.

 

Will I be introduced to any of the business aspects of the fashion industry or is this just a sewing class?

FDM offers the best of both worlds – enabling students to develop, analyze and implement effective business strategies, to support the creative side of design and provide students with a realistic view of the world of business.

How many garments will I produce during the program?

Around 20 - 30 items during the 2 year period.
