On the evening of March 22, nine Digital Filmmaking students had the opportunity to showcase the talent they’ve developed and expanded upon over the past 18 months of their lives as each student proudly presented their final documentary to their peers, family and friends.

The Kelowna Digital Filmmaking program presents Prodigy 9 this upcoming Friday.

On Friday, March 15th the Digital Filmmaking’s Emerging Technologies class along with Ian Miller of Atlantic MediaWorks presented a workshop to students which exhibited the camera technology capable of working in a 2K+ resolution workflow.

Our third quarter Digital Filmmaking students at our Kelowna, BC film school, worked on a fun (if not psychedelic!) film project in their Exercises in Visual Communications course. As part of a class assignment, they directed, produced, and edited a music video for Panther Lake.

We recently sat down with Graham Cairns, our Kelowna campus Digital Filmmaking Department Head to chat about how he got started in the filmmaking industry, our filmmaking program, and what he thinks about moving from the set to the classroom. Here’s what he had to say!

A new program, Digital Fusion Filmmaking – an intense 12 month program, is being offered at the Kelowna campus this year. This program is perfect for the student looking to work in different varieties of media and it refines skills to make students ready for this larger focus.

Digital Filmmaking students in Fredericton have recently been working on a 4-part soap opera series called Hallmark Family. The group completely transformed one of the rooms on campus and a Program Advisor’s office to film the series. Check out the pre-production photos below!
