Audio Engineering Grad Update: Jeff Fero

Yesterday, Kelowna news site Castanet published a great story on local band Live on Brighton. The band, featuring Audio Engineering grad Jeff Fero, was recently named a finalist in EMI's “Moartist” music contest. The band has a busy winter planned, with gigs in Toronto, New York and Montreal, and an appearance at Canadian Music Week. It's an exciting time for Jeff and the band and we look forward to seeing what they're up to next!

Fashion Student Mitchell Gilroy Preparing for Montreal Fashion Week

We recently profiled Halifax Fashion Design & Merchandising student Mitchell Gilroy, and his advancement to finalist in Telio's Canada's Next Great Designer Competition. (Read the story here).

In November 2011, Mitchell was awarded as a finalist in the design competition, with a $15,000 scholarship up for grabs, and the chance to showcase his designs at Montreal Fashion Week.

Veterinary Hospital Assistant and Digital Photography students host an SPCA fundraiser.

Kelowna, BC – For the last two years, students in the Centre for Arts and Technology Veterinary Hospital Assistant program have organized a Pet Photo Shoot on campus to raise funds for the Kelowna SPCA.

Halifax Fashion Student Chosen to Compete at Montreal Fashion Week

Halifax, NS – Centre for Arts and Technology Student Named as Finalist in “Canada’s Breakthrough Designer” Fashion Competition - The Centre for Arts and Technology is pleased to announce that Fashion Design and Merchandising student, Mitchell Gilroy, was chosen as one of the top 25 finalists for Canada’s Breakthrough Designers competition, presented by Télio.

Veterinary Hospital Assistant program now offered in Fredericton

Fredericton, NB –The Centre for Arts and Technology is pleased to announce it will be extending its Veterinary Hospital Assistant program to the Fredericton campus, with its first class starting February 6, 2012. The nine-month program is designed to educate students in a wide range of areas including, but not limited to, assisting with surgical preparation, front office procedures, client care and communications, animal nutrition, animal anatomy and physiology. 

Animation Students from Fredericton Get Inspired in Montreal

Fredericton, NB – Senior students from the Animation program at Centre for Arts and Technology in Fredericton, recently traveled to Montreal, for extra inspiration to complete their final projects – their demo reels. While touring the city, students made stops at local gaming company, Gameloft, the 1976 Olympic Games Stadium (Biodome), and an International Game Developers Association (IDGA) presentation.

Kelowna Campus Welcomes New Animation Talent

Kelowna, BC – Chris Gottgetreu and Blake Anderson are bringing their experience and impressive résumés to the classroom as the two newest instructors to join the Animation department at Centre for Arts and Technology, Kelowna.

Pixar Canada sets up home base in Vancouver, looks to expand

VANCOUVER — Pixar Canada, the Vancouver satellite studio of the Californiabased computer-generated-animation company, will begin training new staff in late May, and start work on its first short film by early August. Amir Nasrabadi, Pixar Canada's general manager, says the company has 20 Vancouver employees, has posted another 15 jobs on PixarCanada.com,and plans to hire 35 more over the next 18 months.

Tuition Tax Receipts

Just an quick update for all our students concerning your tax receipts (T220A tuition tax receipts).

For the Kelowna campus, the receipts will be available on February 25th & 26th at the front desk. At 4pm Friday February 26th, 2010 they will mailed out to the address we have on file.

For other campuses, please keep an eye out for details and check with administration if you have any questions.
